Prospective adopters are required to complete an application and submit it to Operation Scarlet. A representative will then contact the prospective adopter to discuss the rest of the adoption process. The adoption fee is $275 and helps to cover the cost of food and medical bills while the dog is under the care of O.S. The health exam includes spaying/neutering, yearly inoculations, heartworm testing and treatment of any other health concerns that may be detected during the exam. The adoption fee does not always cover the cost of the dog's medical expenses, therefore additional tax-deductible donations are always greatly appreciated.

~ A.D. ~

A.D. - I am a 2 year old handsome male black brushcoat.  No one seems to know what "A.D." stands for, but the folks at the rescue say it must be for "awesome dog", because I am extremely intelligent and dignified.  I can sit and offer my paw on command. I have even figured out, in about 10 minutes, how to push a railing aside and then crawl under a deck to get out of the rain. So if you'd like to have a smart dog for a friend, please call Operation Scarlet.

~ Buckles ~

Buckles -
Approximately 2 years old fawn brushcoat. Buckles was taken to a shelter by his owners; no reason was given.  According to the shelter, the owners reported Buckles is good with children, cats and other dogs. Since he's been with Operation Scarlet, when taken for walks Buckles walks well on a leash, seems easy-going and enjoys playing with toys and bones. He's a little reserved with strangers but once he gets to know you, his fun-loving side comes out.

~ China VI ~

China -  I am a very petite girl.  I am approximately 3 to 4 years old and I am a fawn horsecoat.  I did not have a very good life.  I along with four other of my Shar-Pei friends were used for breeding and then dumped at a vet clinic.  We were put in the back of a pickup truck and taken to the clinic to be put to sleep.  The people at the clinic liked me a lot and contacted O.S. Well, as luck would have it, I was not only dumped, but I was also heartworm positive.  That is something a dog does not like to hear because the treatment is not very pleasant.  I had to stay at the hospital for a week while getting the treatment.  The whole process takes about six weeks.  Now I am feeling a lot better and I am ready to be adopted.  Boy, a family of my very own.  Now that sounds great!  I like walks and car rides.  I like chewing on bones and meeting people.  I am a very good girl for vet exams. But the one thing I do not care for is other dogs.  I really do not like to share my food or my toys.  I would do best in a home without other dogs.  I want to be a spoiled little girl that gets all the treats and all the toys.  I never had life that good before, so I just want to enjoy it all and be the only dog.  Aunt Dawn really thinks I am cute.  She said my name should be Ninja because I remind her of a little turtle.  I am not sure about that.  I like the cute part – but a turtle.  Hmmmm.  Anyway, if you think I am cute, give O.S. a call or send an email and ask to meet me.  - China

~ Dallas ~

Dallas - Dallas is a small quiet, well mannered 1-2 year old fawn female. She walks very nicely on a leash. Dallas has very tight ear canals and will need an owner who is willing to tend to her ears as she has had bilateral total oblations. She appears to tolerate other pets well and and does not react to other dogs nosing at her crate.

~ Enzo ~

Enzo - Young male Lilac brushcoat.  Found as a stray and absolutely adorable...this little man
is quite the character and would make a great addition to many homes.  Be sure
to call Operation Scarlet and ask for Enzo!

~ Hershey II ~

Hershey II - Young small black brushcoat found as a stray.  This handsome little devil is energetic
and full of zest for life.  If you are looking for a great companion who knows how to have fun
make sure you call us and ask for Hershey!

~ Maggie Mae ~

Maggie Mae - Very pretty and petite fawn horsecoat.  Maggie Mae is one of those ladies that just draws you
in with her big chestnut-y brown eyes, they seem to reveal her heart, soul and intelligence.  The "Double M" is your typical horsecoat and a bit stand-offish at first but, once she checks you out she shares her true self.  Once you meet this little horsecoat you will be begging her "Maggie Mae I take you home?!"  :)

~ Mickey ~

Mickey - Hello everyone.  My name is Mickey.  I am a female, dark chocolate horsecoat and I am about 7 years old.  I am also a very lucky dog.  You see, the day after Thanksgiving I was hit by a dump truck on a highway in NJ.  I had a broken jaw and a broken front leg.  The skin was lifted from the top of my head and my skull was exposed.  A very nice man and lady saw what happened to me and stopped their car and offered to help me.  I was very afraid and in a lot of pain.  I was able to lift my head off the road and I licked her hand in appreciation.  Well, they rushed me to a pet emergency clinic and the doctor started to put me back together again.  He had quite a bit of work to do to make me look like myself.  After I had recovered enough to leave the hospital, the nice lady took me to her house.  She has children and quite a few pets so she explained that she could not keep me although she told me that she liked me a lot.  She called O.S. and the nice people there said “Yes” they would take me and help me find a loving home.  I am now at the rescue and I am getting lots of love and very good care.  My jaw is healed and so is the repair work on my head.  My eyes are not quite the same size any more – one is large and the other is small.  My ears are not sitting evenly on the top of my head – one is lower than the other.  My leg is slowly mending but it still has a way to go.  If it does not heal properly, I might need another operation to insert pins in the bone.  Even thought I do not look quite the same, I AM ALIVE!!!  That is what matters the most.  I am a very well behaved dog and everyone says I am so sweet.  If you think you would like to open your heart and home to a little Pei that has had some tough times, just call O.S. and ask for me, Mickey.  I will love you forever and always!!!  Oh, by the way, I would like to thank the nice man and lady that saved me.  The lady even drove me from Jersey to O.S. in PA.  She is wonderful.  I will never forget her kindness and I think of her every day.

~ Ocho & Cleo ~

~ Twiggy ~

OK, so I know what you are thinking, "Why is her name Twiggy?".
Well, not all that long ago when I hitched a ride with Jayne to OS I was so skinny
I looked more like a greyhound than I did a Shar-Pei...it was then that she told me
that I was nothing more than a "twig" and named me Twiggy because of my rail thin
supermodel look....at first things looked a bit shakey for me due to some stomach problems but,
Dawn, Dr. Hall and everyone at Operation Scarlet saw to it that I regained my health and
girlish figure....it's no wonder that my new my favorite song is "Unskinny Bop" by Poison!

Stay tuned for more info on Twiggy!
