Bark-Lee II - Howdy, folks. My name is Bark-Lee. I was one of the dogs
that was rescued from a condemned house along with 20 other Shar-Pei. I am about
six weeks old in this picture and I am a male chocolate horsecoat. My mommy is
Grace. She has been referred to as Amazing Grace since she so patiently and
lovingly took care of me and my six brothers and sisters. I am very excited
because I have been chosen by a very nice family who has two other Shar-Pei. I
will have lots of fun playing with them. I am also very happy because all my
brothers and sisters have been chosen and will be in their new homes by
Christmas. Even my mommy has been chosen and that really makes me happy. Thanks
to all at O.S. for keeping all of us safe. Merry Christmas to all! Love,
Bark-Lee

Baron - Hi, folks! My name is Baron. I am a seven year old, male, black
bearcoat. I could possibly be mixed with chow, but it doesn’t really matter
because I am told by many people that I am the sweetest dog you would ever want
to meet. I came from a shelter in Maryland. |
 |
Baxter - Male, red-fawn brushcoat, from Georgia.
He was formerly known as Duke, and is now in
Conshohocken, PA. |
 |
Beamer - Hi, folks! My name is Beamer and
I am a 10 month old, male, sable brushcoat. Sad to say, I am already
homeless at 10 months of age. I along with a canine friend who I liked very
much were taken to a shelter in PA because our owners were moving. Some of
the other homeless dogs at the shelter who were older than me told me lots
of interesting things about humans. They told me that some people look at
dog ownership as a responsible and life long commitment, but others think
they can just throw us away when they no longer want us. That made me very
sad because I would never do that to people that I love. Anyway, let me tell
you a little bit about myself. I like to play. I like to meet people. I am
well behaved for a young kid. I like to take walks. I sit nicely when told
and I LOVE biscuits.
I am a very happy boy, but what would make me even happier would be to have
a family again. I have lots of love to give and I would never, ever throw my
family away. I would love them forever and ever. If I sound like the kind of
dog you would like to have as your true friend and companion, please give
O.S. a call and ask for me, Beamer. |
 |
Bear II - Male, fawn brushcoat. Bear came from
a shelter in Luzerne, PA in 1994. He is living a very comfortable life with
a pot belly pig in Quarryville, PA. Thank you Pam for giving Bear so much
love and a great home.
|
 |
Bear III - Male, black brushcoat. Bear
was rescued from a shelter in Reading, PA in 1999. He is now enjoying his
new life in a wonderful home in Lancaster, Pa and has a boxer canine friend, too. Thank you
Michael and Helen for opening your hearts and home to Bear. |
 |
Bear IV- Male, cream
brushcoat. Bear came from a New York City shelter in 2001. He is now
living very comfortably in Shippensburg, PA with eight other Shar-Pei -
all from O.S. Thank you Wil and Janice for again offering your home and
your love to another homeless Shar-Pei.

Bear VI
- Howdy! My
name is Bear. I am now 15 weeks old and my looks have changed quite a
bit since the pictures you are looking at have been taken. I am a
happy little boy and have two sisters
and two brothers who have also been helped out by all the great people at
Operation Scarlet. We are all black like
our momma, Mei Chen (formerly Jada II), you can see her picture on the
"We're Home" page because she has been adopted!
Everyone says we are very cute and we like being
held and cuddled. I am such a good puppy. If you would like to offer a
home to a very cute and cuddly black ball of fur, contact O.S. and ask for
me, Bear |

Bear VII - Hi!
My name is Bear. Remember that Shar-Pei with the huge head
named, Shrek? Well, I could be his double. I have the same friendly
disposition too. But wait, let’s back up. I need to give you basic info
first. I am a male, red brushcoat and I am about 3 years old. I lost my
home because my family was moving. Wow! I did not know that when people
move they have to give up their dogs. I wonder if they have to give up
their kids, and car and TV too. I am a pretty easy going guy and nothing
seems to bother me or gets me upset. I am housebroken, leash trained and
crate trained. I have a beautiful red coat and I just had entropion
surgery because my eyelids were rolled in pretty far. I guess that is
about all I have to say except when I get to interview my new family, the
first thing I am going to ask is – “If you ever plan on moving, what would
you do with me? I am looking for a “forever” home and if you think you
would probably throw me away then I need to keep on looking.” On the
other hand, if you think I might be the kind of dog you want for a loyal,
faithful companion, give O.S. a call and ask for me, Bear!
|
 |
Bella - Hi, all you kind folks. I am
about four years old and I am a female, fawn horsecoat. I cannot believe
what happened to me! My owners dropped me off at a boarding kennel in North
Carolina and they never returned for me!! We canines remain so loyal to our
families. We forgive and overlook so much with our people, but it sure seems
like some humans are not able to do the same thing. I would have NEVER
thought to abandon my family. I had a life long commitment to love them, NO
MATTER WHAT! I have come to accept the fact that I am in need of a family
that will hopefully appreciate all that I have to offer. I absolutely love
meeting people. I do not appreciate other dogs, but cats and birds are okay
with me. You would really make my day by contacting O.S. to say that you
would like to meet me. Give a call and ask for me, Bella! |
 |
Belle - Female, red brushcoat, the shelter in NYC,
where she was a stray. She now lives in Narvon, PA |
 |
Bernie - Male,
chocolate brushcoat. Bernie came from a shelter in New
York City in 2000. He is now in a very loving home in
Flemington, NJ. Thank you Wendy and Scott for opening
your home and hearts to Bernie. |
 |
Big Daddy - Male, chocolate, 10 months old. He was
abandoned at a vet clinic. He was fostered by OS's
Georgia Associate Cindy Phillips. |
 |
Bianca – Hi! My name is Bianca. I am between 2 and 3 years of age. I am a red brushcoat Pei mix. I came from a shelter in NYC. I was found tied to a pole near the shelter. I was not really happy about that. It was actually kinda scary!! I have been obedience trained and I know lots of commands. I offer a paw, I also respond to sit, stay, down and heel. If you point to the floor I will very obediently lie down and put my head between my front paws. Then I role my big brown eyes and give that very forlorn look. I am a pretty big girl. I am tall and I weigh 51 pounds. I am playful and I have a great personality. I am crate trained and housebroken. I love riding in the car and I am excellent for vet exams. Actually you could just wrap it up and make it simple by saying “I am a GREAT DOG!” You would make me one very happy dog, if you would get in touch with O.S. and say, Bianca gets my vote. I am sitting right by the phone in hopes that the next call will be for me.

 |
Blondie - Hello, folks, my name is Blondie. I am
four years old and my owner took me to a shelter in Philadelphia, PA. I am not
sure why I was abandoned because I am a very good girl. I like children and
other dogs. In fact, there was another dog in the family. Now I am very lonely
and I can only hope that someone nice will come along and offer me the kind of
love that I am in need of. I promise to be a very good girl and a wonderful
friend, if I am given a second chance. |
 |
Blooh - Hello, everyone. My name is Blooh. I am a 2 year old, male,
blue horsecoat. Blue Shar-Pei are not that common at the rescue and everyone is
admiring my good looks and very nice disposition. I came from a shelter in New
Jersey and I am really hoping to settle into a new home with great people very
soon. If you want to meet a very dignified, handsome boy, get in touch with
O.S. and ask for Blooh!! I am patiently waiting for my "forever home". |
 |
Blossom III – Hi folks! My name is Blossom. I am an 8 month old, female,
red bearcoat mix. Some say I kinda look like a fox. I am actually a Pei Terrier
mix. I came from a shelter in NYC. My family took me to the shelter because they
said they did not have enough time for me. I did live with another dog in that
home. The volunteers at O.S. are very nice and they told me I am a very well
behaved little girl. If I start to do something that puppies should not do, and
that could be a lot of things, all they say is “no, no”, and I stop. I am very
smart and I learn very quickly. I am also crate trained. I do not make a sound
when I am in my crate. I actually like spending time in my crate. If you are in
search of a very happy, sweet canine friend and companion, get in touch with
O.S. and ask for me. I will love you forever and always, if you adopt me.
UPDATE: Since the rescue is full, Blossom went to a foster home and is being a
very good girl. She is having fun playing with the Shar-Pei that lives there.
The foster parents go to work and she is very content in her crate. She is one
adorable little dog. |
 |
Blue - Female, blue horsecoat, from the Center for
Animal Care & Control in New York City. She now lives
in Lancaster, PA. |
 |
Blue Man – Howdy! My name is Blue Man and
I am just a baby. I am about 11 months old and I am a male brushcoat. There
is blue in my line and there is a blue haze on my muzzle. The rest of my
body looks like it has been sprinkled with baby powder. The color is called
Isabella. I am only the second Isabella that was rescued by O.S. I was
rescued from a shelter in NYC. |
 |
Bo Lo - Male, cream horsecoat from a shelter in
Camden, New Jersey. He now lives in Newville PA. |
 |
Bolo II - Hi! My name is Bolo. I am a
male, fawn horsecoat and I am only about 10 months old. I came from a
shelter in NYC and I had been picked up as a stray. It is really scary being
homeless in a big city like New York with all the cars racing around and the
car horns blowing. To make matters worse, I had two large cherry eyes that
blocked my vision. I still do not like to go outside because it was a very
frightening experience. Operation Scarlet had the cherry eyes repaired and I
can see much better. I really love people and I am a very friendly guy. My
one and only wish would be to find a very loving home. I have a lot of love
to give, I just need a family that will appreciate what I have to offer. If
I sound like the kind of dog you might want to open your heart and home to,
please give O.S. a call. I promise to be a very good boy. Love, Bolo |
 |
Bon Bon - Hello, my name is Bon Bon.
Everyone says I am just as sweet as my name. I am 2 to 3 years old and I am
a very dark chocolate horsecoat. I was a stray and came from a shelter in
NYC. I am very quiet and well mannered. I love meeting people and probably
would like other dogs as long as they liked me. Unfortunately, I do have one
problem. When I went to the vet this week, it was discovered that I am
heartworm positive. I go back to the doctor this week to start my heartworm
treatment. That means I will not be ready for a new home for at least a
month. I am quite disappointed because I really want a loving home and nice
people to take good care of me. I guess I will need to be patient for a
little while longer. If you are looking for a really sweet girl, get in
touch with the people at O.S. I really want a family that I can love and
call my very own. If you think I would be the dog for you, just ask for Bon
Bon!! |
 |
Bonzo aka Mr. Bonz - Hello, everyone. My
name is Mr. Bonz and I am also affectionately referred to as Bonzo. I am
about 2 years old and I am a black horsecoat. I came from a vet clinic in
Virginia where I had been hospitalized since January. You see, I was being
starved by my owner and had forgotten how to eat on my own. The nice people
at the clinic started to feed me baby food off of their fingers. I had only
weighed 29 pounds when I was admitted to the clinic. I still wonder why my
owners thought it was not necessary to feed me. It was not a very nice
experience and my tummy felt so empty. Now all that is over and I am with
lots of nice people at O.S. who are feeding me three times a day plus
snacks!!! I now weigh 40 pounds. My life has improved immensely except that
I do not have a family to call my own. Every night when I close my eyes I
pray that a nice family will call and ask about me. Please, won't you be an
answer to my prayer and give a call and ask for me - Mr. Bonz or Bonzo!! |
 |
Bo II – Hi! My name is Bo. I am one year
old and I am a male, fawn horsecoat. |
 |
Bonney – Hello. My name is Bonney. I am a
five year old, cream horsecoat. I along with my best buddy, Clyde, were
abandoned in a house in VA. We were pretty upset about it. Thank goodness we
had each other. A very nice lady would stop by the house once or twice a day
to put us out and give us food. We were told that we were going to be
rescued by Operation Scarlet. We liked that idea because it was beginning to
get pretty lonely in that empty house. Our owners decided to get a divorce,
but neither one wanted to take us or find another home for us. I know I
would never leave Clyde. He is my best friend. Now we are at Operation
Scarlet and we are getting lots of attention and good care. Wherever I go,
Clyde goes. We are like Siamese twins. We go out together. We come in
together. We eat together. We sleep together. We just love each other so
much. Everyone says that we will not be separated. If one of us is chosen,
the deal is, they must take the other one too. We are very well behaved and
honestly both of us will be no more work or trouble than just one. Well,
gotta go. I hear the dinner bowls rattling meaning chow is on the way. |
 |
Boo III - Hello. My name is Boo. I am a
petite, 1 year old, female, red fawn brushcoat. |
 |
Boo Bear - Hi! My name is Boo. I am
approximately 8 years old and I am a black, male brushcoat. I had been
rescued by O.S. in 1997 and was then adopted. |
 |
Boo Boo – Hi! My name is Boo Boo. I am a
2 year old, male, sable brushcoat. I was found tied to a pole in NYC. I was
not worried because I was wearing an I.D. tag. The people at the shelter
told me it would be ok and that they would call my family. I just knew my
family would be so excited when they heard that I was found. Oh, boy, was I
wrong. They said they did not want me anymore. I was so very sad. There I
sat with no place to go and no family to bail me out. Well, my family did
not come to my rescue, but Operation Scarlet did. Things are now getting
much better for me. I have good food to eat, toys to play with and very nice
volunteers that are treating me special. I am actually starting to feel
happy again. Life does go on and I am very excited about finding my
“forever” home. Rumor has it that I might be spoken for. I hope someone
gives me the good news soon. Until then I will be patient and snuggle up in
my kennel and dream sweet dreams all about my new family. |
 |
Boss Lady - Hello. My name is Boss Lady.
I am approximately 5 years old and I am a female, black horsecoat. I came
all the way from Connecticut to Operation Scarlet. Boy, that was some drive,
but I was a very good traveler. I have been very depressed because my owner
passed away. He was a very, very nice man and I loved him so much. He often
told me that I was all that he had and he would always love me and take good
care of me. Now I am all alone and very, very sad. The people at the rescue
are being very kind to me and they keep telling me that everything will be
all right. One day I hope to be happy again and have someone to love and who
will love me. If you would like to have a very loyal friend who will just
love you with all their heart, give O.S. a call and ask for me, Boss Lady |
 |
Brinsley - Male, red horsecoat. He was picked up
as a stray in New York City. He is now living in
Duncannon PA. |
 |
Brody - Male, red brushcoat. Brody was
rescued from a shelter in PA in 2001. He is now living very happily in Wind
Gap, PA with his new mom and dad. Thank you Vallerie and Tony for giving
Brody a second chance at life.
|
 |
Brownie - Willow Street, PA |
 |
Brownie II - Male, black horsecoat. He was rescued
from Lake Saranac NY, and is now living in Southampton
NY. |
 |
Brutie – Howdy. My name is Brutie. I am
the 13 year old dad that was rescued along with my 3 sons. I am a black
horsecoat. I sure do want to thank O.S. for helping me with my kids. I
overheard the man I lived with saying that he could not keep us. I had no
idea what I was going to do. I know that we will need to be separated which
does make me sad. My boys are really great kids and I sure hope that every
one of them finds a good home. You would think that I would be the one
having trouble finding a home, but would you believe I am the first one that
got a home. The nice lady that rescued us took me to her home to foster and
guess what? I wormed my way right into her heart. I am happy to have a home,
but gee, my poor little boys are still homeless. Won’t you please consider
opening your heart and home to one of my boys? Wrinkles is a sweet boy and
he is just one year old. Chocolate and Coco are littermates and they really
love each other. It would be just dandy if they could stay together. Well,
that is all I have to say. I will just say a little prayer tonight that they
will soon have homes as good as the one I have just found. Thank you O.S.
for saving my little family. – Brutie
P.S. Oh, by the way, please excuse my appearance on this picture. I had
fleas as you can tell by the sparse coat on my rump. Well, the fleas are
gone and the hair is coming in. Just wanted to explain my rough looking
appearance, but I am getting better looking with each passing day. |
 |
Brutus III - Male, chocolate horsecoat. Private
surrender from Glenside, PA, and now lives in
Shippensburg PA. |
 |
Buddy III - Male, black brushcoat. Buddy
III came from a shelter in Lahaska, PA in 2000. He is now
living a very happy life in Middletown, PA. Thank you
Lisa and Andrew for offering Buddy a new home and a new
life. |
 |
Buddy IV - Hi there! My name is Buddy. I am a cream male horsecoat and I
am about four years old. I originally came to O.S. in 2001 and was adopted by a
very nice family. They had children that I dearly loved and I even slept with
their pet guinea pig. I had a problem that my family could no longer work with.
I like to jump fences. If I had known that I was going to lose my home due to
that bad habit of mine, I would have tried really hard to change my ways. Now I
am starting all over again needing a family that will love me and care for me. I
guess I will need a family that either has a high fence or a family that does
not mind walking me on a leash. When I am outside and she calls all the dogs to
come in, I am the first one that comes running to the door. I like all pets. I
have lived with dogs, cats and the cute little guinea pig. I really, really like
children too.
|
 |
Buddy VI - Howdy folks. My name is Buddy.
I am a red fawn brushcoat and I am about 4 years old. I was living with a
very nice man and I was really enjoying life. Then one day all that changed
when the very nice man passed away leaving me without a home. I was very sad
and missed him a lot. Now I am at the rescue and everyone is being really
nice to me. I enjoy going for walks and I am even starting to play again. My
tail would really wag for joy again if someone would offer me a good home.
If you are looking for a happy, fun-loving Shar-Pei, call O.S. and ask for
me, Buddy! |
 |
Bullet II – Hello. My name is Bullet. I
am a four year old, male, 5 point red, brushcoat. I came from a shelter in
Pittsburgh, PA. |
 |
Bumble- Hi. My name is Bumble and I am
just a baby. I am a little boy of about 8 weeks of age. My mommy is Daisy
and my sister is Chewy. They are both pictured on this page. I became
homeless along with 20 other Shar-Pei when we were taken from a condemned
house. We are now safe in a foster home with Operation Scarlet volunteers
but it was pretty scary at first being moved from place to place. My sister
and I are very lucky because the nice foster mom has decided to adopt us. My
sister and I will not need to be separated. I am worried about my mom
though. She took such good care of us, but no one has chosen her. If you are
looking for a really nice Shar-Pei, call the rescue and ask for my mom. Her
name is Daisy. |
 |
Burl - West Chester, PA |
 |
Buster - Male, fawn horsecoat. He was a private
surrender from Pittsburgh, PA, and he now lives in Enola
PA. |
 |
Buster IV - Male, black horsecoat. Buster came
from a shelter in NYC in 2001. He is now living a very good life in
Alexandria, VA with a female Shar-Pei friend. Thank you so much Mel
and Robin for opening your hearts and home to a Shar-Pei in need of a
second chance. |
 |
Buster V - Male, tan and black patterned
horsecoat mix. Buster was rescued from a shelter in West Virginia in 2002.
He is now living quite happily in Exton, PA. He now enjoys his days playing
with two other Shar-Pei. One of them, Althea, is also a rescued O.S. Pei.
Irene, thank you so much for saving little Buster's life. He was just a baby
when he became homeless and was in much need of love and safety. You offered
him that, and he will always remain your loyal companion and friend. |
 |
Butternut - Male, 5 point red brushcoat.
Butternut came from a shelter in Washington D.C. in 2002. He is now a very
happy boy and is enjoying his new home in Richmond, VA. Thank you Henry for
offering your heart and home to Butternut. He is a dear boy and will always
be your loyal friend and companion. |
