Candy -
Hi! Candy is my name and I love to play!!! I am approximately 4 to 5 years old and I am a female, fawn brushcoat. I had been in several shelters so no one can really say why I am homeless. I do know it has been too long since I have not had a family to love me. If O.S. would have gotten me sooner, I would already to enjoying a new life. Oh, well, I am now in a safe place with people that love me, so I have no more worries. Boy, it is fun here at O.S. We get lots of treats and yummy meals. I even have my own chew bone!!! Volunteers come to the rescue and take us for walks. I saw one of the dogs getting a bath yesterday and thought, “Oh, no, I hope I am not next. I curled up in my crate and pretended to be asleep. I think that is what saved me.” I have a great sense of humor and as friendly and sweet as a dog could possibly be. I love to play, and jump and spin. If you are looking for a really friendly, outgoing dog that loves meeting people, I am the one for you!!! You would make my day if you would call O.S. and say, “I want to meet Candy.” Hot dog! That would be awesome!!! |

Carmen II - Hello. My name is Carmen. I am a 9 week old, female, fawn horsecoat. I was one of the 21 dogs that was rescued from a condemned house. I
have six other brothers and sisters and my mommy is Grace. I really did not have
a very good start at life since I had to be moved several times until Operation
Scarlet came to my rescue. That was lucky for us and also another fortunate
thing was that we have a wonderful mommy who really took very good care of us. I
am very excited because I heard that I have been chosen and will soon be going
to my new home. I will be living with a really nice family who have two boys to
play with and also two Shar-Pei who I can have lots of fun with. I will miss my
litter mates and my mom, but I will sure be well taken care of. Thanks to all at
O.S. for keeping me and my brothers, sisters, and mommy safe. |
 |
Carter II- Male, black brushcoat.

Northampton (PA) SPCA. The former Otis now lives in
Lancaster PA. |
 |
Cassia - Hi! My name is Cassia. I am a
female, apricot dilute brushcoat and I am only about 5 to 6 months old. I
was a stray and came from a shelter in NYC. I am timid at first and very
gentle and quiet. It was very frightening to be lost in New York City and
the shelter was very big and noisy with lots of people and dogs everywhere.
I was really glad to settle in at Operation Scarlet. I do have a bit of a
skin problem, but I will be going to the vet to have that looked at. What I
really need is a family who will give me lots of love and excellent care. I
am just a baby and I need lots of loving and cuddling. If you think you
could provide me with those things, please give the rescue a call and ask
for the cute little girl named Cassia. |
 |
Cassie - Female, shaded black brushcoat. She is from a shelter in
Pittsburgh where she was known as Onyx. She now lives in Schuylkill Haven
PA. |
 |
Cassie II - Hi! My name is Cassie. I am one of the pups that was
rescued from a condemned house along with 20 other Shar-Pei. My mommy is Grace
who took very good care of me and my six other litter mates. I am now about nine
weeks old. I was kind of scared being moved from place to place, but my foster
mom and dad took very good care of us. My mommy, Grace, told me not to be afraid
because Operation Scarlet will keep us safe. I am told that I will soon be going
to my new home. I will be living with several other dogs and that sounds like
fun because I really like to play. I am happy about my new home but will miss my
brothers and sisters and my mommy. The good part is that we are all safe and
will be going to loving homes.

Chan II - Hello. My name is Chan. I am a male, fawn horsecoat
and I am about 1 1/2 years old. I was surrendered by my owners to a shelter in
PA. I was really confused and deeply hurt by being tossed aside since I had been
a good boy and did not know why they no longer wanted me. I am now settled in at
the rescue and I must say it is not really bad here. I get good meals, and the
volunteers play with me and take me for walks. I am very playful and
affectionate. My wish this holiday would be to find a wonderful home with people
who will love me and take very good care of me. I have a lot of love to give and
I promise to be a very good boy. I will be waiting right by the phone in hopes
that a nice family will call and ask for me, Chan. Happy Holidays everyone!

Charlie - Hello, folks. My name is
Charlie. I am a very handsome two year old, male horsecoat. My owners
surrendered me to a shelter in New Jersey and did not even give a reason. I
was very hurt by being abandoned and I don't even know why I was thrown
away. Everyone that meets me says I am a very well behaved boy and the
volunteers at the rescue tell me I am a wonderful dog. I hardly ever bark
and I am very friendly. I am housebroken and crate trained and I was
excellent for my vet visit. I have been told that if there is such a thing
as the perfect dog, I am the one. I would be just so very happy if a family
would open their hearts and home to me. I would be no trouble at all and I
promise to be a loyal friend and companion. If you think I sound like the
dog for you, won't you please contact O.S. and ask for me - Charlie. Happy
New Year to All!! |

Chewy - Hi. My name is Chewy. I am a
little girl and I am about 8 weeks old. I along with my brother, Bumble,
were removed from a condemned house. There were a total of 21 Shar-Pei that
were rescued from the house. My mommy, Daisy, took really good care of us,
even though she was also afraid. Bumble and I are lucky because we have a
wonderful new family who loves us and will give us good care. We will be
able to grow up together and will never need to worry about being separated.
We will miss our mommy and we hope that she will soon have a loving family.
If you would like to have a really nice Shar-Pei, call the rescue and ask
for my mommy, Daisy. Bumble and I would be very happy to know that she is
also in a very good home. |

Cheyenne II - Bechtleville, PA |
 |
Chill - Hi, folks! My name is Chill. I am
a male, cream brushcoat and I am two years old. I was an owner surrender and
came from a shelter in NYC. I love people and I am just full of energy. I
earned the name Chill because when I start bouncing around the people at the
rescue tell me to "chill out". They laugh and I bounce all the more. I am a
small Shar-Pei and weigh only 28 pounds. My one front foot is somewhat
deformed but it does not slow me down. I will be a great friend and
companion, but I have to be honest and tell you that I do not like CATS! |
 |
Chin - Male, black horsecoat. He came
from Georgia and he now lives in Reading, PA |
 |

China V - Hi, everyone! My name is China.
I was rescued from a shelter in NYC because my owners no longer wanted me. I
am a male, black horsecoat and I am about two years old. I am very playful
and I love to meet new people. I would be okay with another dog, but no cats
please. I had a condition called entropion which can cause blindness if not
corrected in time. My owners did not take care of it and I have a very
painful eye. The nice people at O.S. saw to it that I received surgery
immediately, but if it does not heal properly, I may have to have the eye
removed. I am not too worried about it because I know they will do what is
best for me. If you are looking for a very playful dog that is happy all the
time, please contact the rescue and ask for China. I will be waiting right
by the phone in hopes I will have a new home very soon. Happy New Year! |
 |
China Boy - Male, cream horsecoat. He came from
the Morris Animal Refuge in Philadelphia, PA. He is now
living in Harleysville, PA. |

China Doll - Female Shar-Pei mix. She now lives in

Chino II - Hi! My name is Chino. I am a
very handsome two year old male, fawn brushcoat. I came from a shelter in
New Jersey. I am somewhat shy, but after I get to know you I am quite
friendly. I am very quiet in my kennel and I am also crate trained and
housebroken. I would like to find a home that is quiet since I am shy and
would prefer a relaxed, calm environment. If people reach out to me too
quickly I tend to flinch as though I expect to be hit. Therefore, I would
really like to find a gentle, kind person that I can learn to trust and feel
comfortable with. I really would like that second chance at life and to be
loved and appreciated for the great dog that I am. If you think I might be
the kind of dog you would like to have as a good friend and companion,
please get in touch with O.S. I am patiently sitting in my kennel waiting
for that very important call. Just ask for Chino! |
 |
Chiquito – Howdy, folks! My name is
Chiquito. I am a male, cream horsecoat and I am 1 ½ years old. Let me
tell you a little bit about myself. I am a very happy boy and as playful as
playful can be. My hobbies are chewing on bones and begging for dog
biscuits. These O.S. rescue people are great. They know how to have fun too!
I went for a ride with one of the members and she took me through the
McDonald’s drive thru. We shared a breakfast sandwich and hash browns. Boy,
was that ever yummy. Oh, I almost forgot. I love to ride in a car too. |
 |
Chloe VI aka Kahlua III - Female, fawn horsecoat. Chloe came from a Harrisburg shelter in 2000.
She is now living a very happy life with Bonnie, another
adopted O.S. Shar-Pei in Lititz, PA. Thank you Mary Anne
and Jean for again opening your hearts and home to
another Shar-Pei in need. |

Chloe VII- Hello, folks. My name is Chloe. I am a five year old, female, red fawn brushcoat. I was surrendered to O.S. by my owners. They had me since I was a puppy. They recently had a baby and they felt they no longer had the time to care for me. I really had a good home and I was very well cared for. My owners took me to obedience class and I have very good manners. I am very friendly, crate trained and housebroken. I would probably be ok with dogs and cats too. I went for a walk with one of the other rescue “kids” and that did not bother me a bit. I have wonderful qualities and would love to be a member of a family again. If you think you would like to offer me a home and give me really good care, please give O.S. a call. Just say that you want to meet Chloe! |

Chocolate – Hello. My name is Chocolate.
I am Coco’s brother and Brutie’s son. I am a male, dark chocolate brushcoat
and I am 2 years old. I along with my two brothers and dad became homeless
because our owner was evicted from his house. We were not in the best
condition when we were rescued, but we are feeling a lot better now. Our
dad, Brutie, is doing just great in his new home. A nice couple came to look
at me last week and I think I have been chosen. I will need to say goodbye
to my brother. I hope he soon gets chosen too. Coco is a bit more timid than
I am. He will definitely need another dog to lead the way. I am anxious to
get settled in my new home with my new family, but I will miss my dad and
brothers. I am happy but sad too, if you know what I mean. I guess that is
all I have to say. See ya.
P.S. I forgot to mention one thing. I am not used to telling a story about
myself and am kind of at a loss for words. If you are wondering why my belly
and front legs are shaved it is because I was in the hospital and had to
have an operation. My legs were shaved because I had to have IV’s in my
legs. I am fine now. I had a very upset tummy and the doctor thought I
swallowed something that was bad for me. The good news was that everything
looked fine. I am feeling much, much better. Hopefully I will soon have a
full coat of hair again |

Chopsticks - Howdy! My name is Chopsticks. I am a male, black brushcoat and I am about two years old. I came from a shelter in NJ. I somehow got lost and animal control caught me. Boy, that was a bit scary. I did not know what they were going to do with me. I was taken to a place where there were a lot of other dogs and cats too. There was a really nice lady working there that likes Shar-Pei. She told me not to worry because a place called Operation Scarlet always takes the Shar-Pei that she rescues. She said she would even drive me there!! Boy, that was really nice of her. O.S. was full so the lady took me to boarding in order to keep me safe until there was a kennel available for me. I hope you don’t mind me telling you all this – I just love to talk about how I was rescued. Anyway, she dropped me off in boarding and wished me luck. Well, luck was not really with me in one respect because when I was examined by the doctor, he said I had worms in my heart. Yuck!!! How disgusting. The doctor told me not to get so alarmed because he knew how to get rid of them. And he did just that and I feel so much better. The doctor also fixed my eyelids because they were rolled in and they were hurting my eyes a lot. Now I am all fixed up except for just one more thing. I NEED A FAMILY!!. A very special family that will love me and give me very good care. I am very playful. Boy, do I love to romp around the yard and I like to play fetch too. I am friendly, playful and loveable. I am crate trained and housebroken. I like to take walks and I enjoy meeting people. I am obedient and intelligent. I have so much to give to a family that will say they want me for their canine friend. If I sound like the kind of guy you would like to spend many happy hours with, please give O.S. a call. Remember, Chopsticks is the name. Thanks for letting me tell you all about me. Hope to see you soon!!! |

Choo - Hi! My name is Choo and I am just five months old. I am a male,
fawn horsecoat and I came from a shelter in PA. My owners took me to a shelter
because a family member was allergic to me. It was quite frightening at the
shelter because there were lots of big dogs and they were all barking. I so
wanted to be with my mommy and litter mates again where I felt safe and loved.
It was not long before two really nice people came to my rescue. They told me
they were members of Operation Scarlet and that I had nothing to worry about.
They fostered me for a week and then transported me to O.S. I had lots of fun at
their house because they had a Shar-Pei and a cat. I really liked playing with
the cat. Now I am at the rescue and all the other Shar-Pei welcomed me and told
me not to be afraid because the volunteers would be really nice to me. I don't
like being homeless. I want a really nice family to take me home and give me
lots of lovin. If you think you would like to have a very well behaved Shar-Pei
puppy, please get in touch with O.S. and ask for me, Choo! Oh, by the way. A
family with children would be great. I really love children. |

Clyde II – Hi, everyone! I am the other half of the Bonney and Clyde
team. I am a male, red brushcoat and I am about 5 years old. Bonney and I
are really a team. Actually we are more like an old married couple. Wherever
I go, Bonney goes. She does not let me out of her sight. Go to Bonney’s
story and she will tell you why we are homeless. Every time I talk about it,
I get depressed. I am very unhappy because we lost our family and our home,
but I am very relieved that Bonney and I were not separated. This thing
called divorce is something that Bonney and I will never do. We stick
together through thick and thin. Yes, it was scary and sad being left alone
in the house, but we had each other and that means a whole lot. Well, I hear
Bonney calling. Gotta see what my girl wants. See ya!! Oh my gosh!!! Bonney
just told me that we were chosen. A very nice couple said they will take
both of us. Yippeee!!!! Life is beautiful again. |

one of the boys that arrived with my dad and two other brothers. Wrinkles
and Chocolate are my brothers and Brutie is my dad. I am a two year old
male, black brushcoat. I am a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you,
I am really a playful dog. My family did not really have it so good. I had
not ever been to a vet until the nice people at O.S. took me to get me all
fixed up. My brother, Chocolate, was pretty sick and had to stay at the
hospital for several weeks, but now he is at the rescue with me and feels
much better. I am quiet, housebroken and crate trained. I like to be with
other dogs and would really prefer going to a home that has another dog. I
would be so thrilled if some nice family would come to the rescue and say
that they would like to take me and my brother, Chocolate. We are litter
mates and have been together all our lives. If you are looking for two
really nice Shar-Pei, give O.S. a call and ask for me, Coco. I will pass the

Cocoa Bean (a.k.a
Pookie III)
- Hi
Folks! Pookie
here to tell you more about myself. I know you like to get
the full scoop about all of us homeless kids,
so let me start by telling you that I am only one year old. I am
very playful and I just love this white stuff people call “snow”. I have
been having a ball jumping over the piles of snow and it tastes pretty
good too!! I am a male, dark chocolate brushcoat.
Jayne and Kris transported me from a shelter in NY to O.S. I was
taken to the shelter by my owner, but for some reason he told the people
at the shelter that he found me. Boy, was
I shocked when I heard that!!!! Sometimes we dogs would sure like to
have a voice in the matter, but I just stood there looking a bit
surprised. Well, life goes on. That is the attitude of most of us
canines. We forgive, forget and move on. Life is too short to
dwell on what cannot be changed. Okay, enough of the past.
Let’s move on to the future. What I really
am hoping for a really nice home with
people that will appreciate what I have to offer. That sure would put a
wag back in my tail! If you are looking for a very playful Pei, give O.S.
a call and ask for Pookie. I am sitting
right by the phone in hopes that a call will come through very soon.
That’s it for now. - Pookie |
 |
Cooper - Hi, everyone! My name is Cooper.
I am a three year old, male, fawn brushcoat. I am quite a sturdy boy too.
Even though I am a good sized guy, I am very, very gentle. I am housebroken
and crate trained and I offer my paw when people talk to me. I was dropped
off at a shelter in Maryland by my owners because they said they were
moving. I was very sad. Actually heartbroken is more like it. I thought I
was always going to be with my family - no matter what. I would have never
walked away from them because it is a dog's duty to love and protect its
family. Now I am patiently sitting at the rescue waiting for that special
person who will take me home and love me. I want to be a happy boy again and
having a family that loves me will make me one very happy dog. |
 |
