Daisy May - Hello. My name is Daisy and I am a black horsecoat that is about 1 1/2 to 2 years old. I was rescued along with 20 other Shar-Pei that were taken from a condemned home. The worst part of it all was that I also have two little puppies to take care of. I am in a wonderful foster home where I along with my pups are getting the best of care. My pups were just four weeks old when we were rescued. Their names are Chewy and Bumble. I am happy to say that they have been chosen and will be going to their new homes as soon as they are old enough. Right now I am still enjoying being a mommy and taking care of them. I unfortunately have not been chosen as yet. If you would be interested in offering me a home, please contact the rescue. I will be in need of lots of tender loving care since I will be saying goodbye to my pups.
Dakota II  aka Chino - Male, fawn horsecoat.  Dakota came from a New York City shelter in 2000.   He is now living very happily in North Dakota with another Shar-Pei also adopted from O.S. named Lucy.  Thank you so much Sandy and Ray for offering another homeless Shar-Pei your love and excellent care.

Dante -  I am about 3 years old and I am a male, dark chocolate horsecoat.  I am a very friendly guy. I like car rides, walks and chewing on bones.  My family took me to a shelter without giving any reason.  I am still wondering what I might have done that was so wrong that they got rid of me.

I get along fine with female dogs, but I am more selective with male dogs.  I even tolerate cats which is something that not all dogs will do.  I am just hanging out at Operation Scarlet in hopes that I will soon find my “forever” home.  When I go to sleep at night, I have wonderful dreams about finding a new family.  I just know that one day my family will appear and my dream will finally come true.  If I sound like the dog of your dreams, how about giving O.S. a call?  My bags are packed and I am ready to go!!!

Darcy - Hi! My name is Darcy. I am a female, red brushcoat and I am approximately 2 years old. I was a stray and came from a shelter in Maryland. If you have noticed the stories on the Available page, many of us come in as strays. That is because we are very curious dogs and like to roam and investigate. Please remember to always keep us on leashes when walking us. Also, if you do not have a fenced in yard, we need to be kept on a leash. We do not like getting lost because we miss our families and it is very scary and dangerous for us. I just felt the need to share that because I was scared and confused and did not know where to find food. I am a very sweet and friendly girl.

Darla - Hello. My name is Darla. I was a stray in NYC. I was found sitting on a porch. It was not my porch, but I was lost and did not know what to do. We Shar-Pei are known for wondering. We like to investigate, but sometimes we roam too far and cannot find our way home. I am between 1 and 2 years old. I have a beautiful red horsecoat and everyone comments on how soft it is. Let’s see. I guess I need to tell you a bit about myself. Well, I like to meet people, I am playful, I am crate trained and housebroken, I am very quiet in my crate and very obedient. I really like to take walks and I enjoy dog treats. Staying at the rescue is ok and the volunteers are very nice, but what I really would like to have is my very own home. Shar-Pei love their families so much. I want to be someone’s loyal and faithful friend. I have lots and lots of love to give. If you offer me a home, I will give all my love to you. Give O.S. a call and ask for me, Darla. That sure would make me one very happy dog.

Davis - Male, cream horsecoat. He came from a West Virginia shelter as a stray. He now lives in Mt Bethel PA.
Destiny - Female, fawn brushcoat. Destiny came from a New York City shelter in 2000. She now lives in Lebanon, NJ. Thank you Shirley for adopting her.
Diablo - Male, chocolate horsecoat. He is from New York City where he was a stray. He was formerly Bosco.

Diamond - Female, red bearcoat.  Diamond was rescued from a shelter in New Jersey in 2002 along with her five week old puppy, Murphy, Jr.  Diamond's dream has really come true because she has the most wonderful home possible in Jefferson Twp., NJ.  Thank you Sandy and Jim and children for making Diamond's dream come true.

Dillon - Hi!  My name is Dillon.  I am a three year old, black male brushcoat.  I was rescued from a shelter in Maryland because my owners were moving.  I was very sad when I found out they were not taking me with them.  I did not want to eat and I just quietly stayed curled up in a tight ball at the back of my kennel.  I think humans call it depression.  I hear people saying that we canines are like children, so why do they leave us behind when they move away?  We canines just do not understand people sometimes.

Dixie Dixie - Female, fawn brushcoat. She was rescued from a NYC shelter in 2000. She is now residing in New Holland, PA with two other adopted Pei from O.S. Thank you Sharon and Henry for giving a third homeless Pei another chance.
Duchess - Female, black horsecoat. She was formerly known as Chastity, and she came from the Morris Animal Refuge in Philadelphia. She now lives in Harrisburg PA.

Duchess II - Hello.  My name is Duchess.  I am a two year old, female, cream brushcoat.  I am quite cute and a bit shy until I get to know you.  I never thought I would become homeless, but it was really not my owner's fault.  She became very sick and could no longer keep me and another canine friend.  We were both taken to a boarding kennel in New Jersey until a rescue was able to take us.

Dustin - Male, fawn from York PA. He is the littermate of Cody, Lindsey and Max. He now lives in Maryland.
Dusty - Male, cream dilute horsecoat. He came in from Pittsburgh with a Shar-Pei named Connie Chung. He now lives in Phoenixville PA.
Dusty II - Male, cream dilute horsecoat. He came in from Pittsburgh with Connie Chung, so we know he's good with female dogs. He now lives in Phoenixville PA.

Dusty III - Howdy, folks!  My name is Dusty.  I am about 2 years old and I am a male, fawn horsecoat.  I came from Georgia.  I had been an owner surrender.  I was a very good boy with my family and I really loved the children.  The family needed to move and the landlord would not allow me to move in.  I was very sad about that and so was the lady that raised me.  I would like to thank Jane and Tim, O.S. members in Georgia, for taking such good care of me until they could drive me to PA.  I really like to play and run and jump.  I am a fun loving guy.  I would like to have a home again with some children to play with.  I have a great temperament.  Nothing really bothers me except squirrels.  I would really like to catch one if I could, but boy are they fast!  I am still trying to figure out how to follow them up a tree.  Well, anyway, if you are looking for a dog that enjoys life and likes to have a good time, call the rescue and ask for me, Dusty.  I would really like to find a “forever” home before the holidays.  Life would be just perfect if I had a family to love me and give me that special home that all dogs dream about.

Ebony - Female, black brushcoat. Ebony came from a NYC shelter in 2000. She is now living in Lancaster, PA with a wonderful family. Thank you Ellen and Jeff for reaching out to another Shar-Pei in need.
Ebony II - Hi! My name is Ebony.  I am a three year old, female, black brushcoat.  I am told I am as cute as a button.  Besides that, I am a very good girl.  I am a bit sad though because my owners took me to a shelter in Philadelphia, PA because they said they did not have enough time for me.  Well, now I am at Operation Scarlet in hopes that I will soon find another family who will love me and keep me  as their "forever friend"
Elvis - Male, red horsecoat.  Elvis came from a New Jersey shelter in 2002.  He is no longer singing the blues because he is now in a wonderful home in Aston, PA.  Thank you Natalie and Ryan for giving Elvis that second chance at life.  He will always be your true and loyal friend.
Emma IV – Hi! My name is Emma. I am about 7 or 8 months old and I am a cream brushcoat. My life did not start out too good. I was owned by a lady that kept me in a dog box when I was just a little baby. That lady passed away and a man took me to his house along with that darned dog box. He did the same thing. Just plopped the box down and put him in it. Puppies don’t like to be left alone. We want to play and to be held and cuddled. The storms scared me and so did the nights out in that box. I missed my real mommy and thought about her a lot. I was beginning to think that a dog’s life was not really the greatest. Then O.S. came to the rescue!!! Well, actually an officer in a uniform came onto the property and took me out of the dog box and put me in his car. That was kinda fun. It sure was better than sitting in that box. I went to a place called a shelter and then a very nice O.S. member picked me up and took me to the rescue. Things started getting better for me from that time on. I went to the doctor and he had to operate on my eyelids. I had a very painful ulcer on the cornea of my one eye and I heard the doctor say that he was not sure he could save my eye. Oh, no!! That was not what I wanted to hear. The people at the rescue kept putting eye drops in my eye in order to help save it. Well, guess what!! They could save my eye. The doctor said it looks much, much better. I know my story is getting kinda long, but after you sit in a dog box for days on end with no one to talk to it gets very lonely and now I have my chance to talk!!! Rumor has it that I might be spoken for. I will find out very soon. I am really anxious to go to a really nice home where I will get good care and lots of love. But, please, NO DOG BOX!!!

Emma Lee - Hello, folks. My name is Emma Lee. I am a very sweet and petite red brushcoat. I am about three years old and I came from a shelter in New York City. I along with so many other dogs in NYC was a stray. Since I am somewhat shy, it was very frightening to be lost and running aimlessly about the city. I was actually relieved when I was taken to the shelter and placed in the safety of a kennel. It was not long before a nice couple took me to their car and told me they were transporting me to Operation Scarlet. My world started looking a bit brighter when I arrived at O.S. The volunteers were very nice and helped me get settled in.

Erik - Hi!  My name is Erik.  I am a male, cream  brushcoat and I am about two years old.  I was a stray and I came from a shelter in PA.  I am a very happy guy and I love to play and run around the yard.  I was a very lucky fellow because my time ran out at the shelter and if it would not have been for O.S. rescuing me, I would not be here today.  I am crate trained and housebroken and a very good boy.  If I was given one wish and only one wish, it would be to have a very nice family come to the rescue and pick me.  I am so very anxious to find my forever home.  I have a lot of love to give. Give O.S. a call and ask for me, Erik.  You would make my day!!
Esko Esko - Male, fawn brushcoat. Esko came from the Humane League of Lancaster, PA in 2000 and is now living in York, PA. Thank you Kathy and Tom for adopting him.
Essence -  Hello. My name is Essence.  I am a two year old, female, fawn brushcoat.  My owners surrendered me to a shelter in Delaware. I heard my owners say that they were moving and that they couldn't take me.  Everyone at the SPCA was nice, but I just didn't like being there.  I was really scared. It was too noisy.  Tracy, an Associate Member at OS, rescued me on my third day there.  I am living with Tracy until O.S. can find a “forever” home for me.  So, now I live with my Foster Mom and my two (Chinese Shar Pei) Foster Brothers, Pugsley and Beau.  Mom says that Beau was from OS, so we have something in common.  All the kids in the neighborhood come over to play with me.  I really like to play with kids.  I go out for walks everyday with my Foster Mom.  I like to play with my toys.  I am crate trained, so I sometimes take naps in there.  I am a great guard dog and I bark and run to the door when I hear something.  I love it when company comes over and I am very friendly with them.  My Foster Mom explained that someday soon I will be adopted by a great family.  I will miss my Foster Mom and my Brothers, but it will be nice to have a "forever home" with a family that loves me.  If I sound like the kind of dog you would like for your constant companion and loyal friend, please get in touch with Operation Scarlet.
Eve Eve - Female, chocolate brushcoat. Eve along with her three 6-week old pups were rescued from a Lancaster, PA shelter in 2000. Eve is now living a life of leisure along with one of her pups in Shippensburg, PA. Thank you so much Wil and Janice for adopting both mom and baby.

EvieHi!  My name is Evie.  I came all the way from Georgia.  Tim and Jane, O.S. reps in Georgia, were nice enough to transport me to PA.  I am about 3 years old and I am a female, black brushcoat.  I am very well behaved, crate trained and housebroken.  Actually I am quite “a lady”.  I am affectionate and enjoy being with people.  I can even do tricks.  Not the simple stuff that most dogs can do.  I mean, I stand on my hind legs and spin in circles like the dogs in the circus do.  I am a very pleasant little dog, but what would make me really, really happy would be to find my “forever” home.  That would really make me spin in circles!!  Please contact Operation Scarlet if you think I could be the dog for you.  Thanks for listening to my story.  - Evie
Felix - Male, cream horsecoat. He was a stray from the Gloucester NY SPCA, and he now lives in Lancaster PA
Fern - Hi, my name is Fern. I am a female, fawn horsecoat and I am between 6 and 8 years old. I was picked up as a stray in NYC. I was found just strolling along the railroad tracks. I am a bit aloof at first. Give me a chance to warm up to you and I am just fine. I even give play bows when offered a treat. I am very well behaved, crate trained and housebroken. The other dogs in the rescue room do not bother me at all. I just look at them when they start acting wild and crazy, but I prefer not to participate. I am a very quiet girl and I hardly ever bark. If given one wish, it would be to find a family that will love me and give me really good care. I would like to just relax and enjoy my days in a quiet, peaceful home. If I sound like the kind of dog you are looking for, please get in touch with O.S. Finding a new home would be my dream come true!

Flash (a.k.a. Swede) - Hey, howdy!  My name is Swede.  I am a male, cream brushcoat and I am not even one year old.  More like about 9 to 10 months.  I got lost and a woman who goes around picking up lost dogs caught me.  It was kind of scary because I did not know what she was going to do with me.  I was in kinda like a jail and then a lady came and bailed me out.  She is with Operation Scarlet.  Now I am at the rescue and I am with about eight other dogs.  Most of them are boys and we can get really rowdy sometimes.  I like to tease Pookie.  I dash across the room toward his kennel and he barks at me.  I think it is so funny because he can’t catch me.  I am pretty well behaved for a young dog.  I sit on command and I walk pretty good on a leash too.  I just went to the vet this week and got a check up and some surgery.  My eyelids needed repaired and I was also fixed if you know what I mean.  Now all I need is a home.  Not just any home, but one that has a really nice family that will love me and give me really good care.  If you think you could make me really happy again, give O.S. a call.  Just ask for me, Swede
Foxy aka Priscilla - Female, red brushcoat. Foxy was rescued from a shelter in Delaware in 2001. She is now enjoying her new life in Highlands, New Jersey along with another female Shar-Pei. Thank you so much Mara and John for giving Foxy a second chance at life. She will always be grateful for your kindness and will remain your loyal friend and companion.
