Katie II -
Hello. My name is Katie. I am a very petite, fawn brushcoat and I am about 2 years old. I was surrendered to a shelter in NJ along with 5 other dogs. Our owners were moving and said they could not take us with them. Bummer. I not only lost my human family, but my canine family as well. I am a little bit shy at first, but very, very sweet. I am also very well behaved. I sit for a biscuit, speak for a biscuit and I will not step foot outside until I am told it is ok to go through the door. I have very big expressive eyes that will just melt your heart. I am housebroken and crate trained. If you are looking for a very sweet little dog that is hardly any trouble at all, please contact O.S. It would really make me one happy dog to find out that I have a home again. But, please be sure that it will be a FOREVER HOME. It is very hurtful when we canines are told that our loyalty, love and devotion are no longer needed. Bye, bye for now. Katie |

Keesha – Hi, everyone! My name is Keesha.
I came from a shelter in PA. I was surrendered by my owners because they
said I kept running away. We Shar-Pei are known for going on excursions and
we do that every chance we get. We are adventurous and like to learn all
about the big wide world that we live in. Owners need to know that and take
every precaution to keep us safe. Leashes and training collars are a must
when owning a Shar-Pei. Anyway, my owners never realized that, so I would
travel the neighborhood when given the opportunity. I am two years old and I
am a dark chocolate horsecoat. I am very well behaved and walk nicely on a
leash. I am in search of a family that will love me and let me know that I
am very special. I promise not to be a problem. I will remain a loyal and
devoted friend to a family that will offer me a “forever home”. If you think
I might be the dog for you, please contact the rescue and ask for me. Just
say, tell me more about Keesha. That’s me!! |

friendly and good with kids. He came to us from the
Delaware County SPCA. He was formerly known as Mikey and
he now lives in Quakertown, PA. |

Kido - Howdy! My name is Kido. I am a 3 year old, male, fawn horsecoat. I
came from a shelter in New Jersey because the child in my family was allergic to
me. Losing my family made me very sad. I really liked them and I had a good time
with the little boy. I am told that I am quite a handsome boy. I am well behaved
and quiet. I am also housebroken and crate trained. If you are in search of a
loyal friend and companion, call O.S. and ask for me, Kido. In return, I will
give you my unconditional love forever and always. I will be waiting patiently
by the phone in hopes that my special family will call very soon.

Kiko - Male, fawn horsecoat. He came from the same
shelter in NY City as Maxine. He was stray, so we don't
know his exact age, but estimate it to be between 1 and 2
years. He is now living in Millersville, PA |

Kinsey - Hello. My name is
Kinsey. I am a female, dark
chocolate horsecoat. I am about 2 years
old. I got lost and was picked up by animal control. Next thing I knew I
was sitting in a shelter. Oh, boy. I have heard what can happen to dogs
if they end up in a shelter if no one adopts them. I started to get
really scared. I did not want to eat and I had trouble sleeping. Every
time someone would come close to my kennel my heart would skip a beat. I
was taken from my kennel and I met a nice man and lady. They said they
had just gotten a sweet Shar-Pei from Operation Scarlet named Mickey.
They became members of O.S. and offered to transport homeless Pei to the
rescue. All this sounded pretty good to me, so I got in their car. Now
mind you, I was nervous, but I was being very polite. It was a very long
drive and when their car stopped, I thought I was at the rescue. Instead,
another man approached the car and said he was going to drive me the rest
of the way to O.S. Well, now I am all settled in at the rescue. The
people are nice and there is lots of other Pei to talk to. We take walks
together and eat good food and are given lots of treats. I even have my
own blanket to sleep on and some chew toys. The only thing left that I
really would like to have is my very own family. That would really make
my life complete. I am a very friendly girl. I am a bit shy at first. I
do like to be petted and I sit nice and close to people when they walk to
me. I walk nicely on leash and I am a very quiet dog. I am housebroken
and crate trained. I like other dogs too. If you think I might be the
dog of your dreams, please contact O.S. and ask for me, Kinsey. P.S.
Thank you Ken and Carol Behr for bailing me out of the shelter. Mickey is
a lucky Pei to have found you. Also, thanks Mike for bringing me the rest
of the way to O.S. I will never forget you folks for you saved my life.

Kisses – Hello. My name is Kisses. I am a
four year old, female, black brushcoat. I give lots of kisses and that is
why I got the name Kisses. I am a very playful and friendly dog. I like to
take walks and I really like to be with people. |

Kobe - Hi, folks! My name is Kobe. I am a
male, black brushcoat and I was rescued along with my girlfriend, Junipher.
We were enjoying our lives and being good friends and companions to our
owners. Then one day a very sad thing happened. Our owners took us to a
shelter because they were having another baby. We thought we were their
babies too!! Now we are homeless and hoping to find a very loving home with
a family who will really appreciate our loyalty and unconditional love. We
are also hoping that we will find a family that will take both of us.
Junipher and I would really be heartbroken if we lost each other. If you
think you would like to open your hearts and home to two very well behaved
and friendly Shar-Pei, just give the rescue a call and ask for me - Kobe and
hopefully you would ask for Junipher, too! We will be waiting right by the
phone. |

Kong - Hi. My name is Kong. I am a very
large and sturdy, male, black brushcoat. My age has not been determined as
yet because I have not had my vet exam. It has been estimated at between 2
and 3. I was a stray and came from a shelter in Maryland. The members at
O.S. said I am probably the largest Shar-Pei they have ever seen. One of
them said if I was wearing a saddle, I would pass for a pony! I might be
big, but I am as gentle as they come. I must say that I am quite popular
among the people at the rescue. I love attention and enjoy walks. I am a
strong boy, but I walk pretty good on a leash. I would really like a family
to call my own. I would be a very good boy and would be a very loyal and
devoted friend. If you would like to offer me a home, please call the rescue
and ask for me, Kong. |
 |
Krinkle - Female, fawn horsecoat. She was
surrendered to the York SPCA because a German Shepherd
her owners had would attack her. She now lives in
Lancaster, PA. |

Lance
- Hi, my name is Lance. I am a male, cream horsecoat. Not sure of my age since I have not been examined by the vet as yet. Word has it that I will be going to meet the doctor in several days. I came from a puppy mill. Therefore, I am somewhat shy since I have not been properly socialized. I am very gentle though and I do like to have people pet me. I am learning about the big world rather quickly. You see, I did not even know how to walk on leash. That kind of scared me at first and I did not know what to do. Well, I found out that the leash is a good thing because I get to go for walks. Now I get very excited when I see a volunteer pick up a leash because that means I get to walk with some of the other homeless “kids”. I came from the same puppy mill that Becky, Jackie and Holly came from. The girls are lucky because they have found their “forever” homes. I sure hope someone soon comes to the rescue and picks me. I want a family so bad. I have lots of love to give. If you are looking for a somewhat shy, but very well behaved boy, then I am the guy for you!!! Just give the rescue a call and ask for me, Lance. |

Libby II - Hi! My name is Libby. I am a
one year old, female, black brushcoat. I was a stray and was rescued from a
shelter in PA. I am only about 33 pounds and I have a very sweet
personality. I tested positive for lyme disease and need to have eye
surgery, so I will not be ready for adoption for about 5 or 6 weeks. I have
a lot of love to give so keep me in mind if you are looking for a very sweet
dog. Oh, by the way, I am a lap dog. I just love to be hugged and held
close. |
 |

Lotus Blossom II - Hello. My name is
Lotus Blossom. My story is a bit different since I have actually been living
at the rescue since last summer. You see, I am a senior dog who is blind,
hearing impaired, arthritic and incontinent. I am also sweet, gentle and the
cutest little thing you would ever want to meet. I arrived at Operation
Scarlet the day they were having a fundraiser. The fundraiser was a Basket
Bingo. The founder of the organization decided to take me to the Basket
Bingo as the guest dog. I thought that was great fun. I got to meet lots of
people and I actually went to the front of the room to be introduced to
everyone! Even though I could not see a thing, I could feel lots of love in
that room. What made the day even better was that I was given lots of little
treats to nibble on. The lady that took me to Basket Bingo was trying to
perk me up a bit. You see, my owner had passed away and I had been with him
since I was eight weeks old. We dogs grieve when we lose our owners just
like you people grieve when you lose your canine friends. When I went back
to the rescue, I did not go to the rescue room with the other homeless dogs.
The lady that runs the rescue thought I would be very confused with all the
other doggie smells and sounds. She set up a crate in her living room that
included a toy, a soft little blanket and a bowl of water. It was actually
quite comfy. Well, the days went by and she soon realized that I really
liked her other dogs and they liked me too, so guess what? I became an O.S.
mascot! That is a very special job too. I go to events and I meet lots of
people. I am even going to be a special guest at the spring luncheon that
will be held in Lancaster on May 1. It is true that I was very sad losing my
owner and friend of many years, but I must say that O.S. certainly did fill
my heart with happiness again. I am a very lucky dog. I feel loved again and
that is makes all doggies happy. If you plan on coming to the luncheon, just
look for me. I will be the short little cream Shar-Pei that is always
wagging its tail!! |

Lucky III – Hello. My name is Lucky. I am
a male, chocolate horsecoat. I am about 4 years old and I am a very well
behaved, quiet, somewhat shy guy. I came from a shelter in NYC. I am really
Lucky too because when O.S. was notified that I needed rescued they could
not find anyone available to drive me to Lancaster. Then I lucked out
because one of the O.S. members that lives in New Jersey was available to
get me out of the shelter and drive me to a boarding kennel to keep me safe.
In several days another O.S. volunteer picked me up from the boarding kennel
and delivered me safely at the rescue. Boy, that was close because I knew my
days were numbered at the shelter. I like it at O.S. because we get lots of
treats and the volunteers take us for walks. What I really, really would
like to have is a special home that I hear the volunteers call a “forever”
home. That sounds nice. I would like to have a nice family that will take
care of me and give me lots of love. If you think I sound like the kind of
dog you would like to have as your friend and companion, please give O.S. a
call. I have been lucky so far, now all I need is a family to call my very
own. |
 |

found you. You were an answer to a prayer. We at O.S. wish you many happy
years together. |
